Using ICT ― Online Discussion

In Teaching Learning process, teachers should not only focus about teaching inside the class. Today is 21st era, students mostly already expert about ICT. They can use it also for learning process. In this case, teachers may use internet for the teaching-learning process.

The most famous example of using ICT for teaching-learning process is by 'Online Discussions'.
Online discussion builds great opportunity for communication, peer learning, and active engagament in the class content.



In a class there are some students who try to dominate the class' discussion, but there are some students who having trouble with the language may not participate in the class' discussions, some students who are shy can't answer questions immediately. But by using online discussion, it helps those students to be active in the class' discussion, the students have time to think what to ask, or to answer the questions. And not only that, Online Discussion for teaching learning process helps students communicate with their peers, sharing ideas, mapping ideas, tasting ideas

The Role of Online Discussion
In online discussion ecah students' questions can be answered by their teachers or lecturers in more short time. They don't have to wait until they meet with their teacher in the class to know the answer. Not only teacher that may give feedback to the questions, but also the peers. So students aren't only taught by their teachers, but also their peers. And the most important thing, by online discussion everybody there are active, they are not only listening to somebody else talking.

Effective Moderation, Motivation and Participation
Online discussion is unlimited, so students may having discussion anytime. By online discussion, teachers also have time to sit back and think about the answers for questions that has given by their students. Teachers ususally find in their online discussion that some students are being engage, and some students are helping students to engage. Teachers may congrate their students who ask questions in the online discussion, so their students will feel that their teacher notice them.

Conclusion
By using Online Discussion, student may engage themselves not only inside the class, but also outside the class. Teachers are not the only source for them to engage themselves, but their peers may help them.
